It’s been a strange time to publish a poetry book. Looking back to my launch I didn’t think promotion would be particularly easy, but wasn’t prepared for the ‘no live poetry gigs’ Klaxon – agh!

I had my book launch at Colpitts Poetry Durham in December 2019 and headlined at the first Words on the Wall in Hexham March 2020. The book got great reviews, including – Northern Soul Poetry Review: a girl in a blue dress by Rachel Burns & 21ST-CENTURY POETRY Praise-songs for memorable women | Morning Star (morningstaronline.co.uk)

Another positive thing about the last year is the sheer volume and access to poetry courses and events online, Jo Bell’s Try to Praise the Mutilated World – poetry writing project & Aldeburgh Festival for example. I’ve also seen opportunities for disabled artists in the way of sponsored/ discounted places on poetry courses.

Currently I’m working towards a first collection so watch this space!
